FYI - It's Cool To Put Ketchup On A Hot Dog. Nobody Actually Gives a Shit

Real quick thing here.  Yesterday I threw up a quick blog about how Sammie’s Red Hots took a dig at Cody Parkey on the sign outside their shop:

I wrote it as if I were being soooooo Chicago saying it’s the ultimate low-blow to accuse someone of such a heinous crime.  Truth be told?  I couldn’t care less if people put ketchup on their hotdogs.  I don’t do it if I’m getting an actual Chicago dog, but I’ll put them on a shitty Oscar Meyer if I’m just looking for a quick snack or something.  With that said, I couldn’t care less if someone were to put ketchup on a Chicago dog.  I did admit to not giving a fuck if people put ketchup on hotdogs on twitter last night, and people started coming out of the woodwork admitting the same:

But in Chicago some people and many restaurants act as if this is the biggest sin on the planet; a lot of true to the core Chicago people absolutely despise this move.

People like Eddie.  He’s such a food hardo it’s hilarious.  Cheese on a beef?  Fuck you.  Ketchup on a hot dog?  Fuck you.  He’s so by the book it’s incredible.

I love Eddie – he’s seriously the funniest kid I’ve ever met.  I want to say he’s a character, but he’s not.  He’s who he is.  No embellishment at all.  But… he’s a food hardo.  The biggest food hardo I’ve ever met.  He was so, so pissed on me when I told him I prefer Fatso’s Last Stand hotdogs to Gene n Jude’s.  I love a good Chicago dog – but as Dente said, a hotdog is just a hot dog for the most part.  Put whatever the fuck you want on it.  I don’t care.  Chicago dogs, NYC dogs, whatever.  I love a good dog here and there but I wouldn’t go to war for them or judge you for what you put on them.

Actually – I take that back.  I do care.  Because I fucking love ketchup and am sick and tired of hot dogs’ crusade against it.  From this point forward I’m going to make it a point to free peoples’ minds who love them some ketchup on a hot dog.  Maybe we’ll even land a Heinz sponsorship because of it.

That’s all for today.  Thank you
